Sprocket Takes #1 Spot in the Annual AIBA Awards

On Thursday the 20th of May at Victoria Pavilion in the Melbourne showgrounds the AIBA awards, or The Australian International Beer Awards, the largest annual beer competition in the world took place. The competition judges both draught and packaged beer, with more than 2,600 entries from around the world, 400 brewers and across 26 countries. It was the largest formal event in Victoria since the start of the COVID outbreak at the beginning of 2020, with punters and brewers alike, happy to be back amongst colleagues and friends to ring in the winners for the 2021 year after not being able to attend any formal events last year.

These awards are judged and blind tested by industry peers and focus on finding and awarding quality beers and celebrating excellence across the industry and 24 categories. Of the major trophies, BentSpoke found itself in the top spot across 2 of them, winning gold for Best Traditional IPA, Best American Style IPA for Sprocket and Crankshaft respectively.

Richard Watkins, Co-founder and Head Brewer said, “BentSpoke is extremely proud to win the IPA trophy at the 2021 AIBA awards for its IPA Sprocket. This is the biggest annual beer festival in the world and as an IPA focused brewery it cements our passion in brewing high quality hop forward beers. After winning the GABS Hottest 100 with Crankshaft earlier in the year, this confirms that BentSpokes IPA’s are not just popular but  brewed to a high standard”.

We’re thrilled with the results from last night”.
