Braddon
Brew Pub
On June 6, 2014, Champion Australian brewer Richard Watkins and co-founder Tracy Margrain opened the doors to their highly anticipated BrewPub in the heart of the Nation’s Capital. In its opening weekend, the BrewPub poured roughly 3,000 litres of beer and cider – and that was just the beginning. Eight years and over 1000 brews later, BentSpoke’s BrewPub continues to be the heart of the company’s rule bending philosophy.
On any given day the BrewPub is home to 26 different draught beers, cider and two hand-pumped beers – all brewed at the Braddon site. The mix of our core range brews with rotating limited release styles epitomizes the company’s tenet to ‘take the road less travelled’. Whether it’s utilising local hops and fruit or gathering yeast from space, there is a beer for everyone.
Sit down with a pint (or two) and soak up the atmosphere amongst the pub’s industrial but inviting décor, filled with dark wood and vibrant metal. You might find yourself chatting with a friendly staff member about their favourite brews or learning about the custom tap handles made by BentSpoke regular Peter Rogers. Gaze up to admire the chandeliers, welded from bike parts by Co-Founder Tracy Margrain and the Rat Patrol (a group of local bike builders) and you might even spot a can cemented into the ceiling.
BentSpoke’s kitchen bends the rules of the classic pub menu - whether it’s the Pigs Ear Burger, Fish Wings, Hops Salted Potatoes or Grain Crusted Hot Wings you’ll find a meal that incorporates both beer and brewing ingredients together with a focus on great local produce.
On your way out you can purchase your favourite beers to takeaway either in a can or in one of our 2 litre stainless steel ‘Travellers’.

FreeWheeler has all the hoppy goodness of an IPA without the alc. Fully fermented just like a normal beer. Citrusy, tropical perfume and slight caramel malt are the highlights of this beer that allows you to Free Wheel home!
The process of brewing FreeWheeler is unique to BentSpoke due to the filtration process. BentSpoke uses a unique filter system from brewery equipment manufacturer DME. The filter removes all the fermented beer flavour called the retentate leaving the permeate (alcohol and water) behind. The flavour is then rehydrated with deaerated water, carbonated and is ready to package. Using this process allows BentSpoke to replicate full strength beer flavour in a non-alcohol beer.

A malty robust porter with rich notes of chocolate, slight coffee and molasses malt flavours, perfectly balanced by Fuggles and Chinook hops. Named after Rich and Tracy’s hoppy pups, Fuggles and Chinook
This Nitro Stout is anything but what the name suggests with a velvety smooth palette and roasty, slightly astringent stout characteristics The style originated by the need to supply stout to tropical areas of the world from the UK. These were brewed with higher alcohol and higher quantity of hops to help preserve the beer on its travels. Pale Barley Malt, Roast Barley, Wheat and Oats combine to brew a strong roasty, slightly coffee-like stout.
Marion was brewed by the women of BentSpoke! It is named after Marion Mahoney Griffin who was an American architect and artist, and one of the first licensed architects in the world. Marion along with her husband created the original plans for Canberra. She was the mind that bought her husbands architect vision of Canberra to life.
